Clans
Runescape has always had clans. These are groups of like minded people who get together (in game) and do the things they enjoy.
Being in a clan can have a huge postive impact on the way you play runescape. Clan members are often very helpful towards other members of the same clan.
You can use this to your advantage by requesting assistance off them (see "request assistance" guide on how to do this). In return you
can offer your skills to the clan.
Clans generally hold events where they all go to fight some of the toughest runescape monstors (Kalphite Queen, God War bosses, Chaos elemental for example)
For some people being in a clan is the only way they are able to defeat the high level monstors of runescape.
Clan Chat
Jagex realised the huge importance of clans within runescape and so they created a method of communication for them. This method is called
"Clan Chat".
Clan Chat allows you to speak to all members of the clan, at the same time, regardless of what world they are in or their location.
This revolutionised clans as being able to speak to all members at once has huge beneifts.
To access your clans clan chat simply follow the brief guide below.

Clan Chat Ranks
Clan owners have the ability to rank the clan members. Members of certain ranks can be given the power to kick users from the chat.
You also need the rank of captain or above (general or owner) to be able to accept clan wars on behalf of the clan.
Clans usually give the newest members a recruit rank and increase members ranks as they help the clan and stay loyal.
Looking for a clan
Ok so you've decided that a clan is for you. Now you have a big decision to make. What clan do you go for and where do you look!?
Looking for a clan is fairly simple due to the huge number of clans in existence. Almost all clans advertise on the official runescape forums under clan recruitment.
You need to look for the following things:
- Does the clan look Active?
One of the simplest ways to tell this is how many posts does the thread have and was the thread in pages 1-10 of the forum.
If the thread was lower than pages 1-10 wait a few minutes to see if it receives a bump back to page 1.
- Check the clans timezone - is it compatible with yours?
Most clans will advertise their timezone on their thread. If they dont message a clan member and ask them. If its a helpful clan they won't mind you doing this.
If the clan looks active on forums your next step should be to enter their clan chat and see how many members are in there.
Ok so the clan is in your timezone, the thread is bumped often and members are in clan chat.
This looks like a good clan.
Now you need to check their events list to make sure they do activities that you enjoy. If they do put an application in and join.
Note: The creators of this site do run a clan in runescape also. The name of the clan is "Whiplash" and we accept members who have acheived 100 combat or above.
